When traveling, do you prefer to get away from it all or get into the
thick of things? And have you ever been successful using your renown as
a writer to get an upgrade?
The best upgrade I ever got was changing planes in Miami once. I offered
to pay for an upgrade for the next leg of my trip, down to Rio, but the
airline staff said that it would take them about an hour to calculate the
cost differential. In the end they just gave up and gave me a first class
boarding card.
